Anche se di solito non sono estremi, gli inverni di New York possono essere molto freddi e miseramente umidi...
While not usually extreme, New York winters can be bitterly cold and miserably wet…
Yet, the supernaturally warm Atlantic Ocean breeze winds blowing onshore and inland into the Manhattan borough of the large metropolis this year contrast the frigid emotions Luigi Nicholas Mangione adopted to accomplish his mission on December 4th, 2024.
Luigi Mangione is the young man who assassinated UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last Wednesday morning in Manhattan, New York. Mangione, 26 – is charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a firearm.
Speculation from law enforcement officials for a motive regarding Luigi Mangione’s brazen murder of Mr. Thompson points to a three-page, handwritten document found on him expressing “ill will” towards corporate America.

Luigi Mangione came from a privileged family and benefits from an elite educational background.
The Mangione family of Maryland owns the Turf Valley and Hayfields Country Clubs and a Maryland radio station. Young Luigi was the 2016 class valedictorian of the Gilman School, a private all-boys school in Baltimore. He also earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Police informed the national press on Tuesday morning that parts of the handwritten document found in Mangione’s possession read, “These parasites had it coming” and “I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done.” The catalyzing events that seem to have pushed Luigi Mangione down the dark road he has taken toward political radicalization and murder seem to be debilitating back pain he suffered from before going “radio silent” with family and friends this past summer.

La ricchezza, l’influenza sociale e il potere politico di Brian Thompson e UnitedHealthcare hanno generato due risposte pubbliche nettamente diverse al suo omicidio e all’autore del reato: Luigi Mangione...
The wealth, social influence, and political power of Brian Thompson and UnitedHealthcare have generated two starkly different public responses to his murder and the perpetrator – Luigi Mangione…
We have the mainstream media response – led by prominent reporters like Chris Cuomo and political commentators like Ben Shapiro. The two men—the definition of modern economic wealth and social privilege—immediately denounced the mass displays of biting sarcasm expressed by the public on social media against Brian Thompson and the UnitedHealthcare company after the assassination.
In turn, Cuomo and Shapiro have added their names to the focus of widespread anger against predatory corporations like UnitedHealthcare, its employees, and defenders of its business practices. Other national political figures, such as Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Donald Trump Jr., have also become symbols of disdain.

Governor Shapiro and Mr. Trump Jr., the son of the President-elect – have failed to “read the room” regarding the blast furnace of incandescent white-hot anger from the general public against the healthcare insurance industry.
At Monday’s press conference in Altoona, Pennsylvania, announcing the arrest of Mangione, Shapiro said, “Brian Thompson was a father to two. He was a husband. And he was a friend to many. And yes, he was the CEO of a health insurance company.”
Shapiro continued, “In some dark corners, this killer is hailed as a hero. Hear me on this: he is no hero.”
Donald Trump Jr. was one of the first national figures to post a social media request for people to identify and help law enforcement locate Luigi Mangione. The big problem for “populist” pretenders like Mr. Trump Jr., Governor Shapiro, Chris Cuomo, and Ben Shapiro is Luigi Mangione’s violent act was initiated by a significant public health issue that far too many Americans have direct experience with.

According to the Census Bureau, fifteen percent of US households, or about one hundred million families, have medical debt.
Each year, about 530,000 American citizens file bankruptcy because of medical debt. As Public Health Policy Reviews posted on Friday, it is estimated that over sixty-eight thousand American citizens die every year because of the denial of essential medical services by health insurance companies.
UnitedHealth and other large health insurance companies are exacerbating the misery by implementing artificial intelligence (AI)- driven systems, which make denying people health care services more efficient. AI in healthcare is marketed to the masses as a way to reduce fraud, improve efficiency, and individualize care based on biological and demographic risk valuations.
If you type in a Google search, “AI-driven healthcare insurance methods,” the search engine will prioritize the supposed benefits of AI. However, some analyses of AI systems in health insurance assessments claim their use is deeply flawed.
**********
There is evidence that AI is actually helping insurance companies use biological and demographic data to deny insurance and health services based on age, location, occupation, and lifestyle.
To put the health insurance situation in the United States bluntly, companies like UnitedHealth have a financial incentive to deny health care, medical treatment, and rehabilitative services to insurance consumers. As per some of the anecdotal information released in the national media concerning the onset of Luigi Mangione’s chronic back pain, the unrelenting death and financial destruction monster that the health insurance industry has transformed into is even impacting people in the privileged upper classes.
The mainstream media and elitist apologists like Chris Cuomo, Ben Shapiro, and Governor Shapiro will now be forced to work overtime offering media excuses for executives like Brian Thompson, who continue to feed human lives into the corporate health insurance beasts of America.
Thank you for your response, Mr. Thuringer. However, we have a different view of the effect of Luigi Mangione's violent actions. While my content contributors and I here at PHPR do not condone cold-blooded murder, the cultural and media firestorm that Mr. Mangione's act has ignited seems to be intensifying. I try to tune out the mainstream media and corporate narratives. But our articles have forced us to pay attention to national US reporting since December 4th. Zealous capitalists like Kevin O'Leary - the financial investor and the "Shark Tank" television show Blowhard- admit that the healthcare insurance industry must reform itself. Suppose American citizens continue to express their anger at healthcare and corporations in the US. In that case, it will be that much more difficult for President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy to impose their massive 'DOGE" scam on the rest of us. We will investigate your novel, though. -The PHPR team.
Luigi Mangione doing what he did isn’t going to save anybody. He’s a cautionary tale, cannon fodder in a 2,000-year war that was already lost 500 years ago. That’s why I wrote the novel referenced below instead of trying to go out and deep-six some poor misunderstood CEO of a rapacious, death-dealing corporation.
